Below, are 4 skills I believe I have acquired throughout my life that I feel are most important for my future as a psychologist. This section outlines the details about each skill that I see in myself and I hope that my next section “Learning Experiences” summarizes how I was able to develop these skills.

Problem Solving

My ability to problem solve has definitely come from working in 2 different types of customer service jobs, and my everyday life. I have encountered conflict through many different perspectives and have been able to develop the skills necessary to adapt and problem solve sufficiently. Working in both group and independent settings I have developed innovative and creative thinking skills, initiative, and resilience. With that said I believe I possess the skills needed in a psychologist position.

Adaptability

I am able to quickly respond to changes and adjust to new situations. From my experiences, I have constantly had to take the time to adapt to and understand new challenges as they appear as well as adequately adjust my actions in the process. You have to learn how to be flexible and respond effectively even in tough situations or when things do not go as planned orginally. One important thing I have learned is to not resist change, but to embrace it. Adaptability is a skill I know that I have and can competently execute in the environment of a psychologist.
